Steven Nisenbaum, Ph.D., J.D.

Dr. Nisenbaum is a Clinical Psychologist and Mediator. He has over 30 years of experience in clinical treatment and management of child, adolescent and adult mental health services in both public and private sectors.  He currently practices as a Psychologist, Mediator, Expert Witness and Evaluator, Coach, Guardian Ad Litem, and Parenting Coordinator.

Dr. Nisenbaum is a member of the Massachusetts, Essex County and Worcester County Bar Associations and has served as a Hearing Officer for the Board of Bar Overseers. Dr. Nisenbaum does not currently maintain a law practice or provide legal advice or representation.

Dr. Nisenbaum has a Medical Staff appointment in the Department of Psychiatry of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.  He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at Tufts Medical School in the Comprehensive Family Evaluation Center and Department of Public Health and Community Medicine  In 2002, the Massachusetts Psychological Association, of which he was the past President,  presented him with the Ezra Saul Award for outstanding career achievements and in recognition of his contributions to psychology. 

Dr. Nisenbaum serves on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Council of Family Mediators.  He also has served as President of the Massachusetts Chapter of Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and as President Public Services Division of the American Psychological Association. In 2015, he was appointed to the Ethics Committee of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Nisenbaum is the Founder, President, Executive Director and Faculty for Family Healthy Choices, a non-profit agency providing educational, mediation and parenting coordination services to promote well-being and healthy decision-making for families and family members.  He is co-founder of Co-Solutions, L.L.P., and organization dedicated to providing managerial and personal guidance and services that enable businesses, organizations and individuals to formulate and achieve their goals.  He is also co-founder of Parent Education Group, an agency dedicated to assisting children and families to understand the effects of family disruption (separation and divorce) on the well-being of children and providing learning opportunities to address these conflicts.

Dr. Nisenbaum holds a M.A. and Ph.D. from Clark University, a J.D. from Harvard University, and a B.A. from Northwestern University.
